Edgy, carnal, and gritty - raw life in verse from a poet with 'osprey' eyes. Dawn goes behind the façade of what the world sees in a 'no-holds-barred' perspective of her thoughts and emotions. Intense. Impact. Insight.

Stay With Me and other poems edition by Dawn Montefusco Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Dawn 's work at least for me partially parallels Emily Dickinson's famous opening line "this is a letter to a world that never wrote to me ". Only the world did write to Dawn and boy did she write back. It's uniquely styled, exquisite and personal and will move anyone into a deeper reflection of themselves. My congratulations!
I had read Mrs. montefusco's book of poems and I can say they are very well written and give a clear insight on the meaning of encountering all that life throws at a person. I was particularly fond of the poem which describes the mother who doesn't like much of anything to the poem called urge which addresses the issue of self control. All in all a very wonderful poetry Book.
Growing up Mom cut out poems from magazines and newspapers and created her own book of poems. Dawn's book of poems speaks to today's world, not a world of neat poems with happy messages, but words crafted to get me to reflect on life.
Stay With Me is an unflinching look at life and all it's complexities. Montefusco is not afraid to observe life as it is, no rose-colored glasses, even when it is clearly painful to do so. I love the fluidity of her language as well as the multifaceted experiences she expresses through that language. The division of the poems into page poems and stage poems was also a nice touch.
I have read these poems multiple times. I've had this book for a month now, and haven't entered a review yet because I keep finding myself re-reading all of the poems. I must admit, I am not a fan of all of them; to each his own. But, even the ones I don't prefer are extremely provocative and makes you think about things that you generally don't allow to cross your mind. My favorites are the Stage Poems. As an actor, I may even want to use some of them for auditions, because the emotions it brings up, the memories, the feelings...are all very powerful.

One of my favorites is "I've Got Your Back." This one really hit me personally. I love how many of her poems can be interpreted in different way by each reader. We are not necessarily reading the inner-most feelings of Dawn the author, but we can extrapolate these feelings to our own world. My other favorite is "Stay With Me." When you read beautiful poetry like this, aside from the personal feelings you have, you also can't help but think how BEAUTIFUL the author's soul is. You don't need to see how beautiful she is physically (which would be subjective at best anyway), but after reading many of these works, the beauty in her art is no longer up for opinion.

This book of poetry comes from a beautiful artist, and the world is happy. And the world waits anxiously for this author to create more beautiful art.
After reading these poems, I reread them several times and waited a few days before I wrote this review. I wanted to let Dawn's words sink in. Each time I came back to the poems, I loved them more and I loved them differently. My favorite one changed so frequently, I decided not to try to pick a favorite.
Dawn delves into religion, relationships, love, life and more. I laughed a little, cried a little and thought a lot. Some lines captured my thoughts, while others were direct opposites, but each had an impact. Dawn reached into her heart, soul, mind and very being, delivering powerful words with no filler. These poems are not "one time" reads. I will be rereading them again and again.
I am recommending "Stay With Me and other poems" to everyone.
Stanched cigarettes and blue jeans from another era speak volumes about women who define themselves by the men and women who love them.
Edgy, carnal, and gritty - raw life in verse from a poet with 'osprey' eyes. Dawn goes behind the façade of what the world sees in a 'no-holds-barred' perspective of her thoughts and emotions. Intense. Impact. Insight.
